We’re so excited to share our Performers for our 10-Year Anniversary Gala, Kawayan Folk Arts and Sassi Fran!
About Kawayan Folk Arts:
Kawayan Folk Arts is a performing arts troupe based in the South Bay Area, California. Kawayan, meaning “bamboo” in Tagalog, references the Philippine creation myth where the first man and woman emerged from a piece of bamboo. Their ethnic music and dance performances are composed with traditional Filipino elements, steps, and musical instruments to depict narrative stories and cultural motifs.
About Sassi Fran:
Sassi Fran is a local drag performer in San Francisco who has been performing in the Bay Area drag scene for almost 9 years. She is also the co-founder of K-Pop-Up, a kpop dance class and cover group based in San Francisco. As a Filipino American, Sassi finds ways to reconnect with her culture through her drag performances.
