For too long, nonprofits have been told that grants and major donors are the only path to growth. We respectfully disagree with that notion. LEAD Filipino began as a voter registration project in front of Seafood City, built by volunteers who believed our communities deserved to see themselves represented in civic life. That same spirit of collective investment continues through our Giving Circles. 

We started our Giving Circles to create spaces for connection and dialogue. To invite community members to support our vision to increase and advance Filipino American civic participation, health and wellbeing, and public leadership across our cities. Our daily work shows us that leadership isn’t exercised alone, it is an intentional and community-based practice, and we want our communities at the center of our movement.

We believe that when people feel seen, heard and understood in shared purpose, that their efforts far surpass any single institution.
