Despite PRIDE coming to a close, living proudly as a LGBTQ+ community member is a daily act of courage, confidence and conviction.
Showing LGBTQ+ youth, young adults, families and seniors that they’re not alone in their journey of growth, struggle, resistance and evolution is the purpose of @leadfilipino Annual Queer Lakbay Summit. We strive to provide tools, resources and steps to help others apply this knowledge to make the changes they want and seek.
Lakbay is the Tagalog word for Journey — it’s also an anagram for Bakla, which means Gay. Often used as a pejorative, our efforts, alongside other Queer and LGBTQ+ groups, aim to expand and shift narratives around being Bakla connected to leadership, representation and power.
Amplifying positivity starts at the root of the local level. We offer our Annual Lakbay Summit as a space to build, commune, and organize for broader efforts to protect human and civil rights for the LGBTQ+ community — now and into the future.
