5.18.26 – Filipinos Fighting for Our Voting Rights

During Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, we study our history, examine our present, and plan for our future – and the time to plan our community engagement to protect voting rights is now.

Join us this Wednesday, May 20th from 6-7:30PM [PST] for a virtual webinar on the Supreme Court’s recent ruling in Louisiana v. Callais, a landmark decision that weakened protections under the Voting Rights Act (VRA).

Our discussion will convene national Filipino and AAPI organizations and legal advocates to provide historical, legal and current information around voting rights, redistricting and representation.

Featured speakers include:

• Ejaz Baluch, Jr., Senior Staff Attorney, Asian Americans Advancing Justice-AAJC
• Dr. Angelica Cortez, Founder & Executive Director, LEAD Filipino
• Ellina Yin, Founder & CEO, Dreaming Collaborative
• Kat Evasco, Executive Director, NQAPIA
• Joshua Ang Price, Executive Director, NaFFAA National
• Angela Pedrigal, Panel Moderator

The panelists will address state and local impact, the role of community organizing, and what’s next in the collective fight for voting rights.
