4.08.24 – ICYMI: Watch our 2024 FIERCE Policy Symposium
Our 2024 Policy Symposium is our call to our statewide FilAm community to mobilize.
Our communities deserve not only protection from devastation, but thriving lives and sustainable futures that are free from structural violence. We call on our elected officials to provide relief and pass policies during and beyond this crisis that will lead us to this vision.
For decades, our community has organized alongside other marginalized communities for justice, drawing from the Filipino farm workers, our Manongs, who toiled California’s fields and led groundbreaking farm workers movements for better working conditions. Like the Filipino Manongs, we call on this crisis to be an opportunity to build sustainable public policies that will last generations.
This year we invited an amazing line-up of community leaders such as:
- Hon. Juslyn Manalo | Mayor, City of Daly City
- Hon. Nikki Fortunato Bas | Council President, City of Oakland
- Daisy Maxion | Filipino Advocates for Justice
- Dr. Janice Andrade O’Neal | Asian American Voter Empowerment Project LA
- Gabriel Young | National Federation of Filipino American Associations
- Kirin Amiling Macapugay | CA State Commissioner on Asian Pacific Islander Affairs
- Hon. Melissa Ramoso | Councilmember, City of Artesia
- Hon. Christopher Cabaldon | Fmr. Mayor, City of West Sacramento
- Hon. Gabriel Quinto | Councilmember, City of El Cerrito
