About Lakbay
The Annual Lakbay Queer Filipinx Summit is a day-long conference serving as a critical space in our Queer – and broader – Filipinx communities in elevating our collective consciousness around the experiences, stories, and innovation of Queer Filipinx leaders across our country. Since 2021, the Annual Lakbay Queer Filipinx Summit has been held every June during LGBTQ+ Pride Month and engaged attendees from across the Northern California region in panels, workshops, and notable keynotes.
In early 2019, Celeste Francisco and Daniel Lazo, on our organizing team, believed that LF could serve a critical space in our Queer – and broader – Filipinx communities in elevating our collective consciousness around the experiences, stories, and innovation of Queer Filipinx leaders across our country.
This year, our theme is CAMP LAKBAY: Tayo Na, Bes! Our committee is interested in the idea of taking time away from our usual environments to gather with the folks we’re in community with (dependent on, and accountable to), and how we must be proactive in taking collective action toward our shared goals. We are drawn to the campfire as a place to be vulnerable through the (ghost) stories shared, and how we as Queer Filipinas/xs/os can practice collective storytelling to remember our roots and forge a path toward our shared futures.

LEAD Filipino is a nonprofit organization based out of San José that strives to increase the civic engagement and grassroots leadership of Filipinas/xs/os through culturally responsive programs and impact initiatives. Since 2015, we have served thousands of youth, students and families in Silicon Valley, the region and nation.
