LEAD FILIPINO LAS VEGAS
OUR MISSION
Las Vegas is home to a vibrant and growing Filipino community built on care, resilience, and collective responsibility. While Filipinos contribute across every sector of Southern Nevada, our voices are too often missing from civic and leadership spaces that shape our daily lives.
LEAD Filipino Las Vegas exists to change that. We focus on bringing people together through relationship-building, civic education, and leadership development rooted in Filipino values and lived experience. We bring people together across generations to learn, organize, and lead, creating pathways for civic participation, leadership development, and collective action. By cultivating community power and long-term civic participation, we are working toward a future where Filipinos in Las Vegas are not only present, but influential in shaping policies, institutions, and the stories of our community.

LEAD Filipino, a nonprofit organization established in San Jose, California, that works to increase Filipino American civic engagement, grassroots leadership, and health equity across communities has announced the launch of its chapter in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Between 2010-2020, the Las Vegas region saw exponential growth in its Filipino population. According to Census data and local reports, Filipinos are the largest Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) group in the Las Vegas region with a growing population of over 200,000.
“Our work in Las Vegas has been slow, steady and measured over the span of 5 ½ years”, states Dr. Angelica Cortez, LEAD Filipino’s Founder and Executive Director. “The COVID-19 pandemic showed us that connecting our work to civics and health equity was needed and applicable within FilAm communities across the country. With many of our members now living in Las Vegas, this direction felt natural and right.”
We hosted our first Las Vegas Chapter on Saturday, September 21 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 12:00 – 3:00 PM (PST) with special guest speakers and activities. Please stay tuned for more events and programming soon.
