ABOUT
LEAD Filipino Texas is a community-centered nonprofit organization based in San Antonio dedicated to strengthening Filipino/a/x civic participation, leadership, and representation in Texas. As one of the fastest-growing Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) populations in the state—with over 210,000 Filipinos calling Texas home—our community’s presence is strong, yet our voices remain underrepresented in public leadership and policy spaces. Through local organizing, cultural celebration, and civic engagement, LEAD Filipino Texas empowers Filipino Americans to lead boldly and live fully. Rooted in the broader mission of LEAD Filipino, our Texas chapter builds systems and programs that connect culture, knowledge, and power. We work alongside community members to create civic pipelines, deepen political understanding, and foster economic and social opportunities for Filipina/x/o Texans to thrive.
BACKGROUND
LEAD Filipino was founded in 2015 as a grassroots effort to uplift Filipina/x/o leadership, cultural pride, and civic awareness. Over the past decade, the organization has grown from a volunteer collective into a national nonprofit with active chapters in California, Nevada, and Texas. Driven by a belief that Filipino Americans should be visible, heard, and represented in public life, LEAD Filipino focuses on civic engagement, culturally responsive education, health equity, and community organizing.
In Texas, LEAD Filipino launched its San Antonio chapter to specifically address the unique civic, cultural, and leadership needs of Filipino Texans. Through these efforts and ongoing grassroots engagement, LEAD Filipino Texas is building a vibrant civic ecosystem where Filipina/x/o voices are equipped, visible, and influential in shaping the future of their communities.
