4.28.25 – Organizational Statement on Vancouver Lapu Lapu Day

We are shocked and devastated by the atrocities that took place at Lapu Lapu Day in Vancouver last night.

Just like many of you, we sit with more questions than answers. As an organization that also produces public Filipino cultural events, we know that bastions of youth, adults, and families come together to make these festivals happen. Any attack, hateful act or violence that targets one Filipino community afflicts us all — and sends a chilling effect across all our communities.

We extend our deepest condolences to the victims, their families and those impacted by this unconscionable tragedy.

May we raise up our kababayan in both our heads and hearts during this painful time.
