7.30.24 – ICYMI: FANHS Biennial Conference
The mission of the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) National Conference 2024 is to illuminate the pathways that chronicle the intricate tapestry of Filipino American history and cultural contributions. Guided by the four pillars of Rooted, Watered, Woven, and Wisdom, the purpose for this conference is to deepen understanding, foster appreciation, and unite our community through the lens of our Filipina/x/o American history.
The theme, En[compass]ing Our Journeys, guides us toward a shared and inclusive future, using historical and personal narratives to foster conversations about what we take, who guides us, and where our paths cross. It asks about our North Star, overcoming obstacles, honoring our journeys, and the future of Filipinx American history.
We hosted the Translating Volunteerism into Activism Workshop and we’re honored to present and speak on multiple history, social justice, and culture topics including developing grassroots leadership in Silicon Valley, our contributions to the Filipina/x/o American Encyclopedia, and co-presenting about Filipino exposure tours in Seattle and NOLA with FANHS SVC, BayouBarkada, and ISTORYA on If Streets Could Talk: Kuwentuhan ng Kalsada.
What Our Team Had to Say
I loved learning from multigenerational FilAm historians, archivists, educators, and leaders from all over the country who care deeply about sharing the stories of our community.

Multigenerational organizing is a beautiful process to witness. There’s still so much history I still need to learn to fully understand what it means to be Filipina American.
