February 26th, 2018

On Monday, February 26th, we officially launched our Spring Training Course for spring 2018. The Spring Training Course is a rigorous, community-based training program that ties Filipino Ethnic Studies with community and civic leadership, here in the South Bay.

The Spring Training participants will undergo 10 weeks of Monday classes, where their projects, group discussions and assignments will center on Filipino American history, community advocacy and organizing, and politics.  They will then take their lessons and turn their focus to current issues, presently impacting our community, such as areas within Mental Health, Cultural History and Identity, and Personal Development, by working with Filipino/a American youth at Milpitas High School.  They will also play leadership roles as educators in our summer Awareness in Action Program, beginning this June in San Jose.

Our Spring Training will meet every Monday from 6:00pm-8:15pm at Asian American Recovery Services in Eastside San Jose.  The participants will also be traveling down to Los Angeles next month (April 13th-15th) for a weekend with the Pilipino Workers’ Center and tours of LA’s Historic Filipinotown.

If you have questions or would like more information about our Spring Training, please contact Jay Page at <jay@leadfilipino.org>.
