Final Natz. Ceremony!

Voter Mobility & Engagement Project

Since September 2017 and under the leadership of Kevin Suarez on our organizing team, our group has partnered with the Asian Law Alliance, Filipino Youth Coalition, and other API community organizations, to work with the County of Santa Clara in registering and educating newly-naturalized citizens of their voting and electoral rights.

The involvement in this project included monthly service at the County’s Naturalization Ceremonies (often 8-9 hours in length) and interacting, registering, and interfacing with community members from across the County.

Through these efforts, our Voter Outreach Team – Kevin Suarez, Christelle Aldea, Mandy Ngu and Nicole Liston, successfully registered more than 500 citizens to vote!

Although we’re not looking at a General Election this year, 2018 is also important on a number of fronts: local ballot measures, local races and our Gubernatorial election. As a group centered in engaging and educating Pin@ys on the power of civic participation, we will continue working to provide opportunities and spaces that enable Filipin@s to engage in the conversations, learn first-hand, and gain their own experiences with public leadership.

Great job to our Fall Voter Outreach Team, we’re so lucky to have worked alongside you in these efforts!
