As the largest Asian American population in California (1.6 million) and second largest in the United States (4 million) — you’d be hard-pressed to name ~10 well-known Filipin@ elected and appointed officials making differences in our local communities each day.
When we think of the issues that impact our daily lives — what steps are we taking to ensure that the Filipin@ voice is heard in decision-making arenas? “Policy, Politics & Puto” signifies L.E.A.D’s action toward this larger systemic issue.
L.E.A.D Filipino offers its monthly “Policy, Politics & Puto” workshop and roundtable series to community members seeking safe spaces to discuss and engage in issues related to local, state and federal public policy in both the Philippines and America.
To continuously inform and educate the Filipin@ American community on issues related to our quality of life, “Policy, Politics & Puto”, shows the community how to successfully get appointed to commissions, serve on nonprofit boards, and eventually run for public office.
We bring community members of all ages together to share how these issues are important and relevant to the Filipin@ community. “Policy, Politics & Puto” also features special guests, such as local elected Filipin@ leaders, commissioners, and community activists.
