LIGA Program

LEAD Interns Gathering for Action (LIGA) Program

Since 2017, our internship program – now known as LIGA – has proudly supported the learning and development of students and community members from the across the San Jose/South Bay Area.

Through local partnerships with colleges, including De Anza’s Mellon Scholars Program and Akbayan of San Jose State University, LF has long benefited from the generosity, leadership, and imaginations of students involved in the growth of our organization. LIGA Interns contribute significant resource generation and material value to our programs and initiatives. Notable examples of LIGA-led projects are as follows:

  • Composing commendation language with the City of San Jose to commemorate Fil Am History Month (FAHM).
  • Leading our ongoing partnership with the Filipino Googler Network and their FAHM Career Day with local SF Bay Area high schools.
  • Representing LF and contributing to community decision-making on campaigns including “Yes on Prop 16” for Affirmative Action.

Due to COVID-19, we’re currently operating our internships on a remote basis. Internships are part-time and provide modest one-time stipends upon completion.

We will begin seeking interns for 2021 in January. Please check back for more information!
