Eleaine first became involved with LEAD Filipino after participating in the summer Awareness in Action Program. Driven by her passion for community outreach, activism, and spreading social awareness, she found herself being involved with both LEAD Filipino as an intern and Akbayan SJSU as an External Solidarity Agent for Collegiate Organizations in their Community and Political Affairs Core. As an intern, Eleaine is responsible for assisting the other LEAD organizers in their projects, such as events concerning Filipino-American History month, our piloting high school Awareness in Action program, and other community events. She is currently pursuing a B.A. in Communication Studies with a minor in Sociology at San Jose State University.

Eleaine’s 2017 project areas: FAHM Proclamation, Filipino Communities Research, FAHM Social Media Education and Awareness Campaign, and Gender Justice.

Social Science Teach Preparation; Education

Jeren is a 4th year Social Science Teach Prep: Single Subject major with a minor in Sociology at San Jose State University. His involvement in the Filipino community began in his first year of college as he became very active within AkbayanSJSU as an intern, Public Relations Officer for the 39th cabinet, and now actively on several cores. His dream is to one day teach Asian American/Filipino Studies either at the high school or college level. He is very passionate about helping the Filipino community through addressing culture, struggles, identity, and history of individuals. As an intern, Jeren will be assisting other LEAD organizers in their projects, projects relating to Awareness in Action Program(education), promoting Filipino-American History month, as well as events occurring in the community.

Jeren’s 2017 project areas: FAHM Social Media Education and Awareness Campaign and the Awareness in Action Program (AAP).
